The scroll of the Torah kept in the ark in the synagogue. It is a handwritten copy of the five books of Moses, which are the first five books of the Hebrew Bible.
A reading from a sefer Torah takes place on Shabbat (or Sabbath),and on Monday and Thursday morning services, and on Jewish holidays.
