Sukkot is one of three pilgrimage festivals mentioned in the Hebrew Bible. This one reminds Jews of the time during the Exodus from Egypt when the Hebrew people lived in tents. It is celebrated annually in the Autumn.
At Sukkot, Jewish families will build a Sukkah (pl. Sukkot) (tabernacle or booth) – a temporary hut like the tents of the Hebrews who fled from Egypt.
