We live in a pluralistic society, where people share a variety of worldviews. So how can we live well together? One answer is secularism. Secularism is a way of organising society that guarantees freedom of religion or belief, and equal treatment for everyone on those grounds. No religion or worldview gets preferential treatment or any special powers over the state’s decision making. Instead the state aims to be impartial. Secularism is supported by many religious and non-religious people alike.
This animation, pitched at secondary school students, introduces the core features of secularism and explains why secularists support it.
